What is SEO?

SEO Explained
Firstly, when it comes to SEO and Search Engine Optimisation, Google is the ONLY Search Engine in Australia that you should worry about being found on. Google has a market share of 93% of all search engine users. If you optimise your website for Google, your site will also most likely show up on all other search engines.

If you want to find something you just Google It don’t you? ……. You don’t Bing it, or Sensis it or Yahoo it

Google SEO or Search Engine Optimsiation is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in the Google search engine via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results.

The benefits to being found on page 1 of Google for keywords relating to your business are HUGE. Business owners or website masters that can get their website to rank on the 1st page of Google will GENERATE MORE leads & enquiries from potential new customers and ultimately GENERATE MORE SALES.

There are 2 types of search results displayed on Google:

- the trusted relevant search results, these are often referred to as the natural or organic search results.

- the paid or sponsored search resutls (Adwords), the advertiser pays evertime their ad is clicked on.

The organic / natural search results attract over 80% of all clicks, so this is where you want your website to be. Paid ads or Google Adwords is ok for the short term to start driving some traffic to your website, but with cost of clicks rising you should really focus on getting your website found on the natural / organic search results.

What is Involved in Website Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
SEO involves the po-active practice of optimising a web site by improving both the “on page” website optimisaiton factors such as meta tags, keywords and search engine friendly content as well as “off page” website seo factors such as link building & page rank. You NEED TO DO BOTH to increase RANKING of your website and BOOST the traffic your site will receive from the Google search engine.
